Trust the evaluation of your corn genetics to the CowChow team! Our staff have over 25 years of corn production experience. To mimic local production practices and to ensure trial uniformity, our trials are planted using research planters to provide uniform seed placement. Plots are four rows wide and replicated four times. We also use the same lab that local dairy growers use, Fraser Analytical Services, to analyze our samples for quality using the MILK 2006 testing standards. Trial Planting: Deadline for seed receipt is 30-April. 1500 seeds/entry.
Data Collected: Silage yield collected on the middle two rows of plots and reported as Tons/acre (adjusted to 65% moisture content), Lodging %.
Analysis: Data analyzed using LSD p= 0.05
Entry Confidentiality: Entries can be coded to ensure confidentiality (upon request).
Feed Analysis by NIR is optional.
A composite sample from all four replications is tested for Dry Matter, Moisture, Crude Protein, ADF Protein, NDF Protein, Soluble Protein, ADF, NDF, Lignin, Startch, Sugar, Fat, Ash, Calcium, Phosphorous, Magnesium, Potassium, pH, NDF Digestibility with Kd rate, NIR evaluation of fermentaiton acids, uNDF @ 30, 120, & 240 hrds, total fatty acids and soluble fiber.
When selected, analysis is done by Fraser Valley Analytical Services
